The R$36 million investment will seek to promote innovation in pesticides, bioinputs and sustainable agricultural fertilizers.

With the intention of promoting sustainable pesticides, bioinputs and agricultural fertilizers, the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Financing Authority for Studies and Projects (FINEP), launched a public tender that will invest R$ 36 million or US$6,900,000 in this area.

The funds come from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) and are part of a strategy in line with CT Agro, a sectoral fund linked to the FNDCT for agribusiness.

The initiative seeks to promote the implementation of strategic projects aimed at expanding plant nutrition and phytosanitary control and management options in the country, through the development of products with low impact on the environment and low risk to human health.

“Esta fue una demanda de los colegas del Ministerio de Agricultura, junto con nuestro secretario de Investigación y Formación Científica. Estamos hablando de un segmento estratégico que tiene un impacto considerablemente fuerte en la bioeconomía”, expresó Paulo Alvim, Ministro de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación.

The call is open to Brazilian companies with proven experience in the production of agricultural inputs of any size, either individually or jointly. The financial grant will provide resources of between US$380,000 and US$760,000 per project.
