Innovation and regulatory issues have been in tension since the beginning of the development of bioinputs for the agricultural sector. Complicated registration systems and trade barriers have hindered the development of several discoveries that could contribute to soil health, as well as plant nutrition and protection. Europe and the United States are in the process of facilitating their registrations and promoting their use in the quest to achieve more sustainable standards in agriculture. Their guidelines are relevant for production strategies in Latin American export agriculture. This is a recurrent topic in several articles in this sixth BiologcalsLatam newsletter and will also be discussed in our next series on Biostimulants and Biocontrol, which will be held this Thursday, June 30, with a focus on biostimulants based on microorganisms.
