Spain-based firm Futureco Bioscience Receives Biopesticide Registration in Guatemala
The Spanish manufacturer of bioinsecticides and bio-simulants Futureco Bioscience added an authorization of use for one of its most emblematic products: NOFLY WP. The company recently obtained a new registration from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of Guatemala for the commercialization of the bioinsecticide in the Central American country.
Based on spores from proprietary strain FE9901 of Cordyceps fumosorosea (formerly Isaria fumosorosea and Paecilomyces fumosoroseus), an entomopathogenic fungus natural enemy of several insect species, it has proven to be highly effective on all stages of the life cycle of different species of whiteflies (Bemisia, Trialeurodes, Lecanoideus, Aleuroidicus).
NOFLY WP also has insecticidal action against aphids, some caterpillars and other insects that usually cause important economic losses to farmers.
NOFLY is currently registered and marketed in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cyprus, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Greece, Guatemala, Netherlands, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Poland, Romania, Spain, United Kingdom and USA. In particular, in the USA, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has approved NOFLY WP for use on outdoor and residential crops.
Its registered uses include multiple crops, such as vegetables, cucurbits, aromatics, ornamentals and legumes. The firm expects to add to the list countries where it is growing more, such as Brazil and African countries.
